I was going to order some 3,4 and 5" sassy shad. I wil be targeting striper primarily but there are whites in my lake as well. No hybrids(Canyon Lake in Comal County). I was wondering what colors ya'll use for the stripers. I read some posts about the 3/4 oz and bigger jig heads. Any input on what to try would be great. I am ordering them from moe's and would like to order the right jig head shape for the sassys..Thanks in advance..Hank

I usually use the 1 ounce head, the .75 ounce head is good in shallower water as it allows the body to fall a little slower.

I use the 4" glow body that has been dipped in chartreuse Spike-It. Other colors that work great are the shad colored one and the baby bass. Banana is an awesome color as well.

5" sassys are great when the fish are chasing big gizzard shad.

I prefer the .75oz jigheads and my favorite colors are banana and dorado. Regardless what size you use (both sassy shad and jigheads) you should catch fish and good luck!

1oz heads is my preference. 3/4 will work. Sassy shad bodies, go ahead and buy 100 pearl no need for the other colors. 5 inch. Makes you box prettier with the other colors.

I don't want to spark a debate but.... I remember one trip to Cooper with Superduck, John Varner and John Valenzuela that the only color they would hit was silver glitter. Some times it doesn't matter and some time it does. Cooper at that time was the hottest place around, still mattered on the color.

Different lakes seeem to "like" different color combinations.

Probably right but speaking from my experience alone, and my box is pretty, but I always grab the pearl. Use the others just to see if they will work. Coarse Im hard headed. Just tryin to save someone from soft plastic overload.

I like the 1 ounce heads. Same with fast guy dipped in chart. Spike it.

Good luck.

I've had alot of requests lately for the 1oz jig-heads with a 4/0 hook, the standard is a 5/0. In my opinion, either works fine.

The glow has been the best mover as of late, as far as the shad go.

Just my $ 0.02

Looks to me like moe's tackle prices are the lowest..that's where I'm getting mine from.I loose more than most so price is the biggest factor to me.
I fail to see where one plastic bait is better than another.

Thanks for the replies. Canyon Lake is pretty clear so I'm not sure if there are better colors for clear water. Granted every lake is different and some days the fish like one color/ bait size and the next they won't touch it. This lake isn't as loaded up with whites and stripers as some of the lakes up in north texas.
Thanks for all the pm's..Ya'll are a good bunch of folks on the striper forum..Hank
