Been reading a lot about the fall pattern lately. I'm normally lost in the fall. What water depths and fishing depths would y'all start the hunt on a timbered lake? Maybe this year, I can get some confidence this fall.

Different lake, different depth. My lake, I fish shallow year round. A lot will tell you 12 to 15 and some will tell you two cranks off the bottom. Just depends on the lake and the maximum depth. If you have a graph, start there. Hope that helps.

Clyde, if I'm fishing a lake with timber I would work coves that lead into feeder creeks and fish the shallow timber to start and work your way deeper. As mentioned above the depth the fish are holding depends on the lake but mouth of coves and points that have a good drop off and structure you'll find fish.

IMHO,,,,start how ever you last caught them in september ....
whatever depth whatever spot ......
work backwards if you dont get em ....
they may be a bit shallower .....
i varies alot from lake to lake .......
they may go real shallow at some point but i dont think its going to be this week ....
