Looking for places to fish for crappie from the bank. Unfortunately I do not have a boat so I've been going to the Lewisville fishing barge. Fishing has been good there but i go through like $50 a week just in entrance and bait. I am hoping someone can suggest a good spot around the dfw area. Grapevine, lewisville, ray hubbard, etc. I live in Carrollton but i dont mind driving for some good fishing. Any suggestions...?

I second the kayak comment.

Start used or buy a cheap one. It will get you in the water. If you like the sport, then invest in a good craft later on. If that's something that might interest you, check the kayak section.

Don't pay attention if someone say "you need to start with a $1000 kayak". Just take your time researching.

Good luck.

Almost forgot. Arlington, Marine Creek, Eagle Mountain and Benbrook are good places. Lake Worth if you just catch and release.

Thank yall for the kayak tips. I've looked into it and I think I'm going to try one of those kayak trip guides to see if I enjoy the kayak experience.Any feedback is appreciated.

I personally would check out the feeder creeks at Lewisville and Grapevine. They are free and are LOADED with good sized crappie in the colder months. Should start getting really good by the end of the month but I am sure some are there now. Get you a jig and bobber and fish the bends (usually where brush is) and get to catching.

You can find them on the far end of each arm in the lakes. Grapevine's feeder creek is Denton Creek that runs under 377. Lewisville has several feeder creeks. Hickory creek (old alton) on the arm that goes under I-35, the Elm Fork Trinity that runs under 380 near denton, and Doe Branch that runs under the 380 on the east side of the lake. All should have some fish in them.
