I've driven down Wildlife Pkwy many times when I worked at Lone Star Park and always saw cars parked along the side of the road and people fishing in this pond. I never stopped to ask what they were catching or using because I was tired from work. Decided on a whim to go this morning and just had some basic j hooks and worms. I was the only one there and the only action I got was a small brim by accident. Was there for about 2 hours. The pond is about a quarter of a mile from Belt Line Rd off Wildlife Pkwy. Anyone know anything about this pond and why its so popular? Of course the day I decide to go I was the only one there so couldn't ask about what people are catching. I only saw brim and tons of turtles.

Ya know, after about an hour and a half and nothing happening (except for a small brim that practically jumped on my hook when I was checking my worm) I started to wonder if people were trying to catch turtles there because that's really all I saw. Too bad, looked like a pretty cool little spot. Guess I'll keep looking. Thanks for the info.

That area has alligators, big alligators. Just FYI if you're thinking about night fishing.
Biden famously said in the New York Observer, โI mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, thatโs a storybook, man.โ

I can tell you about that pond. It used to be one of the best kept secrets in the Irving area. There are only 4-6 spots to fish from the road.
The pond is very large, you can only fish from those spots on the road and the trees make it hard to cast. Those trees have captured more tackle than Bass Pro. The big area you see is the deepest part of the pond, maybe 10-12 feet at its deepest when the pond is up. If you can see the big sand bar at the last two spots (furthest away from beltline), then it's only 6-8 feet deep. It used to be a great place to fish, clear water, full of hydrilla and bass...not that way anymore. When we had the drought back in 2000, it killed all of the grass AND someone introduced alligators on the other side of the pond (next road over going towards Irving), the place became a mud hole.
When the water receeded, the bass and crappie (yes crappie) moved up front to where people could get to them and they were taking home 6-8lb plus bass and slabs from your forearms to your fingers home. I wouldn't eat anything out of the pond because people used to dump there heavily. I do know there a at least one old vehicle out there.
The pond has two sides. The side to the left of the big island is shallower and full of gar. The main pond you see is the other half and it was the side with the grass years ago. There may be a few bass there, but I doubt it. Need any more info, PM me.
I sure miss the stump dodging on Lake Fork...But I'm coming back soon to catchOVER the slot! 👍🏾

What about the ponds that are actually in Lonestar Park? There's one as soon as your turn in if you're coming north from I-30 and it looks like there's another off of the trail behind the Verizon Theater. Does anyone know if they allow fishing in these ponds?
