Do you use the stock treble hook or do you change them out? If so what size and make do you prefer and why?

I change them. Typically a Mustad KVD elite treble. For typical 5" spoon a 1 or 1/0. It hangs up but also hooks fish quite well. Always put a swivel on line tie side also for line twist.
I can backlash toilet paper.

The hook on the LFT Flutter spoon was chosen for a specific reason. If you hang your spoon up and it's just one barb that's hung you can straighten it out if you're using 25# test. If more than one barb is hung, your sol.

Stock hooks usually have the flash tails as well (Joe Spaits LakeFork Flutter/Nichols)..no problems w/stock. Both of the spoons I use tie them on right out of the package. Joe told me not to use the swivel which I used to do, have not had any line twist issues yet. He said the good flutters wont "spin/twist",and putting on a swivel alters the designed presentation. awesome bait..Just my .02

Didn't know LFT spoon hooks were designed to straighten out. Also didn't know you could fish them without swivels. This is why I come TFF for info. thanks

I keep the hooks that come on the flutter spoons. I have had no problems with the hooks.

Everyone always says to add a swivel before you fish it, so I did. I will have to try it without and see what happens. Thanks for the information. I have Joes, LFT, and Nichols spoons. I only change the hooks on the small jigging type spoons.

Can someone discuss when and where you choose them as the bait to throw, and how do you present it ? I might want to try them here on Old Hickory. I've got a couple.

We catch alot of smalljaws below Guntersville, Wheeler and Wilson on a flutter spoon called a Foley Spoon. It is a smaller spoon and seems like that would be the ticket in the winter. Here is a video of someone catching a smalljaw below Chickamauga. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y99gsFJ3h-4&feature=youtu.beHave not figured out why they work so well, but they do.
