Hey Ya'll..how many fish do I need for about 30 people? Crappie of course

I do 3 to 4 per person

I usually cook 4 filets per person. Especially if its men and women. Men will eat a few more, women a few less.

You ain't seen them Tool, Texas wimmens eat crappie!

IMHO.....kinda depends on crappie fillet size it seems to me ....
1 big fish makes heavy fillets .....
3 small fish might equal the yield of 1 large fish ....
....not being smart just sayin ......

how ever many it takes for 1/2 pound per person usually.

Over the years i have had many many fish fry;s here at the house and one time had 108 hungry people here eating, I always
try to allow one pound for each grown male and a half pound for each lady and child, with that being said, we always have a little bit left over, not much but i;d rather not have to send them to McDonalds to finish getting full.

decided to test the theory,,,,
just finished dinner with 8 adults 5 men 3 women
15 crappie = 30 fillets .....we had one pc left ....
everyone was full .....

I think all the replies probably get in the ball park, but when I have fish fries for 50-85 people I have used Basscatlarry's guideline of a 1/2 pound per person (counting kids) and it works well. js

The wife, my adult daughter and myself eat 1/2 lb each, along with hush puppies, fries or slaw. We do manage to eat it all.....even if I have to stay at the table a little longer than they do.
