Thanks Jerry..... Just saw on the news that they're indeed expecting several homes to be flooded in Ballinger, downstream of the park. Sad to hear that people will be flooded out of their homes though.

I think it took about 6 weeks, it was a rain like this one that filled it up.

I just got back from Ivie taking the alternant route Jerry advised me to take and went thru Ballinger. Elm Creek and the other river was at least 20' up into the trees. If Ivie gets all the run off I will truely be answered prayers and a blessing.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

does anyone know how long it took to fill the lake up when it was new? . We had a deer lease just off the low river crossing out of Paint Rock, when it was 1st built they expected 5 years to fill. In 1 it came up big time. I think it washed away campers along that crossing. Some of the most awesome fishing. I know yall all know that. Great to see.

The Colorado River rise is at 27' now and expected to crest at 28' in a couple of hours. Then, receed through the night. The Concho River is one foot above flood stage and will receed tonight also. Such a welcome relief to those that make their living on Ivie and to those cities that count on Ivie for their water supply. Lots of prayers were answered today!!!

Definitely try a top water in any flooded vegetation you see. I've caught some nices ones in freshly flooded lakes after big rains like this on top water. The salt cedars and weeds will help filter the water. The mud line will take a couple of days to get all the way to Gatlin. I highly suggest that area, North bank.

When I was little i remember my dad saying that when he fished it when it first filled up they caught alot of small bass and that when they was fishing under big pecan trees green pecans would fall and peg them on the head lol
