guys i have question if doing a wrap on older boat. would it be more feesable to just repaint gelcoat. just trying get some ideas. or will the wrap cover the old look and make it look new agin. and who would be a good company to have do this. keep in mind i have restored everything in this boat thanks for inputs.

To me it makes more sense to put the 2k and your boat towards a new boat

I agree with the no payment fully. But it really doesn't make sense to me to toss the money at a temporary finish on a boat that you will never get a return on

Wet sand or spray new gel coat at least these will last and get some return on them

if you get a wrap for $2k, it's going to be low quality material. Secondly, that money could be well spent elsewhere like an electronics upgrade? You got a Hbird 1198 ? Get the 360 Solar!

Thought about the same thing myself. Had some oxidation to get rid of. Ended up wet sanding and it looks much better now. Cost was minimal compared to wrapping. Did this on a boat I have put new carpet, trollwell, electronics, batteries, trolling motor and pumps. Feels great doing it myself and feels like new again. Best part, NO PAYMENTS.

You wet sanded the gelcoat? If so, what grit & type of sandpaper?

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

I wet sanded using an 800 grit first and then a 1200 grit. It brought the shine back on a very oxidized boat. Make sure to put a really good coat of carnuba wax on after the sanding. I , too, was looking into the wraps. The wet sanding was extremely inexpensive. All you need is water, a sanding block and the sand paper. The paper and block are avaulable at any hardware or automotive store. Less than $25 bucks, but a lot of elbow work.

I wonder if anyone has ever had had their boat rhino lined on the outside.

Seems like if it would adhere to the fiberglass, it would be great for rubbing stumps and such. Not sure how it would displace water when on full plane, if any change at all.
