First off, I know I could research some of this on the TPW website, but I think it would be better to hear from people who fish there a lot.

My wifes family is camping out there all weekend at Eisenhower Park. Are there any good striper/sand bass fishing spots close to there? I can't afford a guide, but I have my own boat and good electronics. Any help in this regard would be most appreciated.

I also have a visitor in from Germany. Is there any way to get him a temporary fishing license, so he can have some fun too?

Speaking of licenses; if I fish near Eisenhower Park, should I get a Texoma license, or will I be far enough away from Oklahoma not to worry about it?

Eisenhower is a state park. From what I understood you don't need a fishing license to fish in the state park boundary. But you do have to follow fishing regulations such as bag limit, length wise... Have a great time!

I thought you had to have a Texoma license no matter where you fished there... of course, it was a guy selling them that told me that...

I see Eisenhower is on the list of free fishing....no license is required. Correct me if I'm wrong. Check it out.

You do not have to have a Texoma License to just fish the Texas side!

You can fish the Texas side with a Texas License.
You can fish the Oklahoma side with an Oklahoma License
You can fish the entire lake with both license or a Texoma license.
Texoma License is no good below the dam you need either or Both state license if you are below the dam. IF you are standing in the water you probably need an oklahoma license to be safe. There is a small section you do not by why push it. If you are fishing anywhere off the Texas Bank beyond or east of Shawnee creek you need an Oklahoma license to be legal. Between the dam and shawnee creek you can use a Texas License.

I see that my quest can fish at the state park without a licnse, but what about my boat? Being from another country, how do I handle temporary licensing for him?
Is there any fish holding structure near Eisenhower?
Thanks!

Lemme clarify.

Fishing within a state park means shoreline fishing or dock fishing. If you're on a boat, you need a Texoma license. Same thing applies to Texas/Oklahoma border licenses - each is only good on their respective shorelines. If you're on the open water on a boat, you're gonna need a Texoma license.

Regarding your German friend, just have him get a Texoma license - it's only $14 or so.

Don't fish Texoma often enough to give good advice on where to find them. usually I just follow JD Lyle. smile

Fish top water baits early around the bluffs by Eisenhower then switch to sassy shads or slabs. If you have an Alabama rig USE IT !!! Striper will crush it !!

He can get a standard Texoma license he will need to have his passport for ID but there is no extra charge. My father-in-law came over from Ireland and they sold him the standard 12.00 license
