THese "xd"s are new to me.

I looked at Mepp's website and they only listed sizes up to a #3, which was a 1/4 ounce. I'm guessing the #5,6 are around a 1/2 ounce?

What's a good online source to get the #6 and 5s from?

Getting excited about fishing new water in Oct!!!

thanks,

Carl

I believe he was referring to the Strike King 5 XD's (crankbaits) but I could be wrong; but I'm most likely not.

Thanks.

Seven years and I still got a LOT to learn!

Would it be fair to say the "XD's" are comparable to the Norman DDs?

I already own a few Normans and am hoping I can save a buck or two, instead of buying new lures.

Norman DD 22's are pretty good. I have about 9 of them stuck on a tank dam there at Choke so don't cry if you lose one (or all of them). If you think you might fish Choke a few more times invest in a good lure retriever, it will pay for itsself.

I think y'all misread about the 5xd's. I think he caught 1 on a 5xd, 1 on a C Rig and the rest on red eye shads. I thought the same thing at first....but since they don't make 5xd's in chrome/black or blue, nor in red eye...I've drawn a different conclusion. That is...maybe time to stock up on some traps! thumb

No Sir.

I understood which lure was attributed to the majority of catches, I was mistaken about "xds" being a reference to Mepps lures instead of Strike King.

Redeyes are new to me also, so I have learned a lot in a short time.

But I appreciate your input.

Ahh. Well you're smarter than me. I was trying to find red-eye 5xd's in chrome/black.

A'men on the lure retriever!!! I bought the telescoping one at bass pro 2 weeks ago that goes down to 18'. Spent $45 on it. Pulled my lures off of trees 5 times on Tuesday that I couldn't pull free. At $6-$8 a piece for deep divers, that thing will pay for itself by my next trip. Takes some getting use to, to figure out how to manage the boat, rod and lure retriever at the same time, especially if there's a lot of wind, but well worth the money. That lake must have $300 worth of my tackle, at least. Not to mention what Falcon has taken from me. Don't know why I didn't buy it sooner.

I may be p-oed when I get back from Choke because I'm gonna put off buying a lure retriever.

But, I can't say I wasn't forewarned.

thanks!
