This is my Pontoon boat. I use it as it is in the image, except no motor, that was a bad idea. Anyone here have exp on these and have any advice to offer? im 6'4 300# so not the ideal user for this. I am thinking of raising the seat about 4in but not sure of the down sides of that, i am sure there are some. any ideas and thoughts would be greatly appreciated

The higher you sit, the more suseptable to light breezes pushing you around. I fished out of one for years. Decided I actually like the belly boats and kayaks better. just my .02 though.

i am shopping for a sit on top yak or a canoe. because of my weight this boat sits way down in the water making it really hard to row. I see your point about the wind though and that already plays havoc with me. I didnt consider that. My other issue with this boat is the lack of rod holders. i have looked at the ones available but i think i can make something from pvc that would be better for me.

Well, I have some extra kayaks I let friends use. Don't have the sot kind though. And I have a canoe. If you'd like to go sometime and try kayak fishing out, let me know. I like the company.

i have had ok luck around the boat ramp for eater size channel cat and some sandies heading north from the ramp. I have been told that crappie and sandies are hitting really good around the 377 bridge but it is shallow. I was just told that i am going to 6 flags on sunday so looks my trip will be delayed a week, i guess i have more time to shop for a new ride, gotta find the silver lining.

Go by Paddle Point Park on Lake Kay Hubbard on Saturday or Sunday and paddle a few Jackson Fishing Kayaks while you're still shopping.

If yall can see that picture i posted, can any of you help me figure out how to make the trolling motor work better? the position that it is in makes it very hard to control.
My thoughts were to add a 24 in extenion moving the motor out to the outside of the right pontoon. I am planning on raising the seat about 4inches jut for comfort.
Any other suggestions of what i could do with this would be great. rod holders are the first priority (last trip i dropped a pole in the drink 3 times and had to fish it back up).i decided that i have alot of toys and i need to work with what i have instead of getting a new toys.

LIL pricy Butt looks like its built with the big guy in mind.
I am so close to just springing for it and all the adons and get back to real enjoyment. last years drought convinced me what i already knew if ya gotta trailer it to a boat launch we might not fish.

I would start by mounting a milk crate behind the seat with rod holders attached. That should help greatly in keeping the rods out of the drink. This is my brother's Cuda with crate.

Next, if it was my boat, I would convert the electric motor to foot control and rig it into a level control mounted to one side of the seat.

Don't know much about these boats but usually when you raise the seat on a boat the stability changes greatly.

If you decide you are interested in yaks give me a PM and I will try to hook up one Saturday and let you paddle my OK Big Game, it's rated over 500 pounds.

I think i may have found a simple solution to my weight capacity issue. The weight capacity if my boat is 375# i weigh 300ish. When my gear and a battery for the trolling motor is added im over. Original solution was to attach some closed cell styrofoam but i think i found something better. I am going to attach a standard inner tube like I would ride down the Guadeloupe river. If i mount this directly under the seat going to the rear of the frame, it should offset my entire weight and most of the batteries making my boat sit much shallower.
