Look at santones rayburn swim jig. Best swim jig set up I found for me was a 3/16-1/4 rayburn swim jig in river bream color with a green pumpkin zoom fat Albert single tail

My combo that has always worked for me was courtesy of Buda....I got me some Talon jigs and some Roboworm ez-shads. I prefer a heavy swim jig and the bigger trailer.

I've only caught one fish on a swim jig lol.Of course I've only thrown it a hand full of times. I guess it's just not my forte.

What xactly defines a swim jig from other types of jigs? I obviously know that football head jigs are meant for bottom bumping, but I don't think i've really ever seen a swim jig unless they are the same thing as casting jigs like what Stanley makes.

I use the same setup talin jigs with roboworm ex-shad trailers. I like how the roboworm trailer over powers the jig a little. Just gives it that slightly erratic motion.
I can't fish for the strippers anymore. I don't have a rod stiff enough and they pull too damn hard.

I believe any jig can be a swim jig. It is the retrieval speed that defines its application. I like to use a scrounger. It has a plastic bill/lip that makes it wobble more in the water and almost acts as a "weed" barrier. I have used it also as a "shakey head" and have caught fish on it as well.

Obviously you can fish any jig like a swim jig but there are a few things that make a swim jig different from others in my opinion. First, a swim jig normally has a more streamlined head that allows it to track through weeds better than a flipping jig or FB jig. The line tie usually comes straight off the nose of a swim jig. A swim jig typically has a lighter weed guard with fewer strands of fiber than a traditional jig. Since you are reeling it faster like a crankbait this helps get the hook into the fish easier when they bite. Most swim jigs have a lighter wire hook than a flipping jig as well. This allows for easier hook penetration at the end of a long cast similar to a FB jig. I'm not sponsored by any bait company but I do like the All Terrain jigs. They make great jigs for all types of fishing. Many times I will use it in place of a spinnerbait or squarebill. I fish it fast on 40-65# braid around heavy cover or over weedbeds. When they are on this pattern every other bait is a distant second. I will also fish it in deep water in place of a deep diving crank. When I can't keep the sandies off my DD22 I got to a swim jig.
