Some friends and i are wanting to do an overnight on the brazos Oct 9-11 and can't decide on either below pk or whitney (or somewhere in between). I have heard there is no water below pk and the last report I heard from a friend who went last month was the fishing was non existant. He is no Shane Davies, but he usually does ok. He said the guy at Rochelles told him they would strike out and they did. As far as what I can gather from below Whitney from the forum, there is no good place to camp. Any thoughts? It doesn't even have to be the brazos, just a place relatively close to DFW. Thanks in advance.

There are a couple of good places to camp on the river below Whitney. As far as the fishing....You will just have to go see for yourself!

Fished the Brazos below Whitney last Saturday and it has LOTS of water (and they were not releasing). Water was crystal clear and fishing was awesome. Shane is catching lots of fish. Camping I cannot help you with. You could try Hamm Creek Park on The Brazos in Rio Vista.

I've only done two overnights below whitney and I didn't bother to camp. I just kept on fishing all night. I'd doze off and get woken up by a rod jerking then screaming drag.

I noticed that the water release at Whitney changes a lot. If you do camp make sure you are up high off the river.

Thanks for the advice Dave. Sounds like I need to get you to guide me MR. Screaming drag sounds nice!

just drift with some nice sized live perch on your hooks on the evening. there are some good flatties out there waiting to snack on them.
