trotlines will do that to ya...lol like they said above, a gar is edible...tastes a bit like yellow cat. If you are fishing a deeper area, say 10+ feet, you may wanna tie a weight in the middle and drop it down closer to the bottom. if you are in shallower water, where your leaders may be touching the bottom, put a bottle in the center. This will work two fold. It will lift up the line and it will work like a bobber. What you usin for bait? Live always works best for me on an overnight trot and always make me have dreams of big fish cause with live bait, from a shiner to a perch, you never know what you are gonna get. Good Luck!!!

Mix of live shad and hotdogs. Oddly enough, the hotdogs are working better at the moment.... I've had Gar once. It was not bad, but I guess I just have a hard time eating something so ugly. Haha
