Has nothing to do with Zapata or Mexicans. You don't have to drive out of town to see that every day. My office is on the outskirts of Houston. We are about a mile awway from an animal shelter (Almeda/288, for those that live in town). We notice lots of stray dogs around. I see at least 3-4 every day and some days as many as 8-10. It turns out that it costs about 25 bucks to drop a dog off at the animal shelter (shots/misc fees). People don't want to pay the money and they don't want to keep the dogs so they drive down the next closest street and just dump the dogs out of their car. Pathetic.
If they come by our building we usually give them some food, try to give them away, and if all else fails take them to the shelter and pay the overhead on them.

They are a sad sight...till your not paying attention and one comes off land and jumps into the back of your boat.. I had a rotty mix that looked like death swim out to the boat and jump on from the back when I was wearing head phones...The next thing I new something was pawing at me from behind...i about shat myself.
I have had them try to swim to the boat there before but didnt see this one on shore or anywhere till it was IN THE FREGGIN BOAT.
Ended up harmless and I fed him lunch and sent him on his way. I am in no position to be bringing home a stray of that size and breed to where I am at. And honestly I am not willing to take the risk with my family or pets. Call me cold but if that animal has survived in the wild in any manner it has the natural instincts to do something that I WOULD REGRET. Not saying it would happen but its more probable than a pup that was brought up with a family in doors.
This is one of 3 times I have been in a boat where they have come to the boat or attempted to. Hell I watched on swim out to a boat that was damn near fishing the border line markers from shore...It had to be at least 1/4 mile.

Someone dumped a litter of cats at my home total of seven. Me and my wife cannot stand to see anything go hungry so we have taken them in and make sure they have shelter, food, and water don't know what we will do with all of them but will figure out something. Trying to find homes for them but kittens are to small at this time.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

On another note, I have never been anywhere that has as many dogs running around stray as Zapata. It is truly unbelievable at times. Iraq will give ANYWHERE a run for their money.
