I purchaced a boat and trailer from the forum and when i went to renew the plates the pevious owner registered it as a homemade trailer and not a manufactured trailer. So i have to apply for a bonded title. Where can i get a trailer appraised? I live in midlothian and the closer the place the better.. Thanks

Trailers do not have titles unless they are over a certain weight.

Goto the county tax assessor-collector offices. I believe all I needed was my bill of sale, a weight ticket and an inspection by a Marshall confirming the vin number.

If a trailer's weight is over 4,000 pounds it must be titled. Even a homemade trailer over 4,000 pounds has to have a VIN assigned. To do this it has to be inspected by a Auto Theft Police Officer.

I did go to the assessors office and they told me the original owner should have not registered as a homemade trailer since it's a original manufactured status 20' trailer. All paperwork was sent by me to a bonded broker. I just want it done right so if i ever sell it. It had a Manufacturers Certificate of Origin document when i bought it. Thanks for the info.

Just take the MSO in and get it registered. You have what you need.
