and no i'm not telling where!!! lol,so i spent the last two mornings fishing from daylight til lunchtime. caught lots of numbers but most were smaller in size. saturday the drop-shot with a grande bass rattlesnake were the ticket. fishing it super shallow but close to deeper water access seemed to be key. me and the neighbor, who had never fished the d-shot, were going along pitching to the edge of a weed line that lines most of this lake. each caught several fish and had a few nice ones up to 3 lbs or so. then i had one on that ran straight to the deep water and i had a hard time turning her on the d-shot gear, when i did she went straight up to the surface and threw the hook at me. it was big enough that when it tried to jump it couldn't even get out of the water, i guess around 7-8 lbs. oh well.

sunday morning it was just me and i tried the d-shot again with not much luck besides a couple dinks. it was raining and the bites i got seemed to be a lil tighter to the weeds so i tried the frog and was able to get several on it. nothing big but several keepers and it seemed that in one day the fish had got a little bigger and started to move off the points and into the coves.

all in all a great couple of mornings with no sunburn, no sweat and lots of tight lines. i bet the full fall bite is not far off. good luck to y'all out there.

sorry for trying to share a fishing story on a fishing forum and pass on that the fall patterns are getting cranked, guess i'm just a little excited about it cause fall is my favorite time to fish. however, i am not sorry about keeping this place quiet as it is very small and has seen a fairly significant increase in pressure this year. i have no clue where venus, tx is but if you're interested pm me and maybe we can work it out where i could take you out there, it'd be my pleasure. i mainly just want anybody who i'm responsible for introducing to this lake to be a responsible angler who is as concerned with taking care of it as i am.

I know a little lake about thirty minutes from fork. I wonder if it's the same one. I have caught multiple 6-7 pound bass over the years and seen a buddy of min catch a couple of 9 pounders.

Within 30 minutes of Fork. That narrows it down to about 15 lakes.
