I've been bass fishing for over thirty years now. I have noticed just catching fish is starting to be a bore. Don't get me wrong I love fishing and would never give it up but here in the last year or so going fishing and catching a mess of 2 to 5 pounders just doesn't do it for me anymore. I would rather have that one big bite than catch a boat load. Is something wrong with me? I'm I crazy? I've started using heavier line and bigger baits and have had great success catching several in the 8 to 10 pound range but I've noticed that is even starting to be a bore. In the last year I've caught a few over 10 with the biggest weighing 11.3 and hung some that I couldn't do anything with and they either came off or broke off. I'm not saying this to brag. I don't even post pics on here. Does anybody else feel this way or is it just me? What's wrong with me?

Once you catch a good amount of monster bass you will never fish small again looking for numbers.

if I catch an 8 lber, look at it and say "that was boring"... I'm going to put the boat up for sale and dust off the golf clubs.

I get bored bass fishing for fun. I've got to be in a tournament..even if it's just a measley $20.00 entry fee.

I've been targeting big fish for quite a few years, now. I'd rather catch one 10 pounder than 50, 5 pounders.

Like with hunting fishing is the same.

1st stage of a deer hunter - kill your limit
2nd stage - kill a large wall hanger
3rd stage - you just enjoy being there and watching the sunrise, you've killed many deer, got many wall hangers to show...now it's just the relaxation you enjoy.

I think Bass fishing is something along those lines.

1st stage of fisherman - catch as many bass as you can
2nd stage - catch as many big ones as you can
3rd stage - just being on the water

I created a 2 1/2 stage by tournament fishing....

I'm somewhere between 2 1/2 and 3.

I can't say that I ever get bored with any type of fishing. I just love to fish.

A couple of weeks back I took a reel in for repair and saw a used left-handed Shimano baitcast reel for sale. Well I ended up picking it up and learning to use a left handed reel has been a "new" challenge. It was pretty simple, just different after 35+ years of right-handed baitcasters.

Challenge yourself to do something different. It may work.

Well Fouz what's your trade in rule on 9 pounders? Last week I had three over 9 in less than 24 hours. I would have traded all of those 9's and a handful of others caught recently for another DD to add to the collection. All 9's do is make me angry. very very angry.

Start taking neighbors.. Take people that don't normally get to go out in a boat.. Might make things more interesting for you while giving someone else a thrill..

I feel the same way, thats one of the reasons we moved here. I will still fish tournaments, but I am always looking for that one BIG Bite. Fork has been under my skin since I first started fishing it back in the early 80's. I couldnt waite to retire, move here and fish it for that one BIG Bite. I still enjoy fishing and always will, but the one bite says it all.

I've done this and gotten a kick out of it! He went from Pond fishing his life to seeing a REAL lake.

Last weekend I took him out to watch me shoot some teals and fish afterwards.

On the lake before daylight he mentions he never has been on a lake after dark.....I got a good laugh as did he. There we were hanging out in the swamp waiting on the sun to come up.

He never has used any of the common rigs we use daily...it's fun watching him learn.

He loves that C-rig, he can relate it to catfishing and has done well with it.

He always on my doorstep 10 mins early ready to go!!
