Somebody's been smoking something. An hour's drive from DFW? Nothing against the Conejos, my favorite Southern Colorado destination (don't tell anyone).

Going there in a couple of weeks to fish. Good to know it is only an hour's drive from DFW. I need a better map because I had planned on going through Santa Fe, New Mexico which is every bit of a 10 hour drive!

Santa fe... Gabriels or the shed... Great mexican food... At antonito, flying dutchman...
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

They do stock some big bows out at Supreme Bass in Aledo, but I haven't seen any mountains or streams like that in west Tarrant county...;)

I don't think the OP could read a map OR estimate fish weight worth a darn.

Did you say 1 hr from DFW? Maybe you meant 14 hr drive from DFW.
I would say about 4 hrs drive from ABQ. I go thru Chama turn down from pass and head on in. Lots of places to fish. I like to start right there at the bridge.
Fishing has been very good lately according to my Boss who has been there 3 times for a week each trip.

You have GOT to be KIDDING ME!?!?!? As a regular fisherman, and more importantly...a guide on the Conejos......I find your information misleading and total BS!!! "Managed" waters or not, a 12lb rainbow was NEVER seen....nor is it anywhere near 1 hour from DFW!!! Pull your head out amigo......maybe find another hobbie while your at it!!!
God does not deduct from man's allotted span the hours spent fishing.

Just got back from Conejos. Didnt catch any 12 lbers but did see the largest wild fish I've ever seen in the water! We caught fish from Aspen Glade to the Platoro meadows. There are many good places to eat--Dutch Mill along with Dos Hermanos in Antonito. In Chama, High Country. Santa Fe, La Choza! Those heading up have fun. Allyn, fish both ends of the spectrum--big rubber legs and 18-20 Baetis and rainbow warriors.

I will also take a kit to tie some in case I come up with some crazy ideas.
