Eveytime I watch a fishing show it talks about some crank bait or top water the they took the "dull" stock hooks. Does it make huge difference or is it just a sales pitch? I fished my whole life without ever changing hooks but after I missed/lost a few fish Saturday it got me thinking about it. Just wondering what the TFF had to say about it.

Do what works for you. Some baits come with good hooks and some come with hooks that are lacking
As a tournament fisherman i cant take a chance on a dull or weak hook costing me a fish

Jake, excellent question and observation. Fish Killer summed it up, well. Buy quality baits and there is no need to change hooks. Buy the value product and, if u don't change hooks, u got what u paid for. The computer generated color schemes make great xmas ornaments, though Hooks are relatively cheap. Good hard baits are not. Buy the best baits you can afford and 3 hook sizes. 1/0, 2/0 and 4/0. KVD Elite TripleGrips. Short-shank variety.

Do you mean go to a slightly larger hook than what comes with the lure or the same size hook as is on the lure?

Yes go up one size from factory. And I ALWAYS change my trebles out to owner st36 on Size 4 and 6. Size 2 and bigger I go to KVD triple grip elites
I can backlash toilet paper.

I change em. It's worth it to me but I crank a lot. Kvd short shank tripplegrips. Once I started changing I've never looked back. They're sharper, they are bigger. They don't catch the bill, they don't catch each other and are a good cheap investment tournament fishing or not. Loosing a fish is no fun period.

Guess TW is gonna get an order in the a.m. Love the stingers. Almost as much as the KVD SSTG's. Yes quack, go up a size. That's the reason for the shortened hook shank. Wider stance, XX wire and surgical points.

Those stingers are scary sharp. I don't and never will understand how I can get a foot from them and they stick me yet the bass can still get off them. Gotta be fishing number one mystery haha. And the KVD elites are scary strong. You can't bend them I don't think

I really like the KVD Triple Grips and I think they help fish stay hooked up. I don't have them on every single bait or anything like that, but I do use them and I do think they really make a difference.

Agree with the size upgrade and hook choices. I haven't tried the owners but I will look at them.

I thought I was the only one with this problem. If I look at them cross-eyed, I'm pulling off of me somewhere.
