The Terrova mount sucks and the way it hangs over the bow sucks. It's kinda noisey when it turns and slower than a foot pedal motor. But the spot lock and auto pilot are freaking sweet and out weigh the sucks. And now Hbird is linking their graphs to the Ipilot and you can use the graphs gps coords for spotlock, pretty nice. Never had a Fortrex so I can't say anything about them.

Yea I don't like the way it is setup and I wondered about the response of turning the motor... But the spot lock just sounds to good not to think about it

I will never use another trolling motor other than the Terrova. If you fish offshore in wind there is not a better TM on the market. If you fish in 5 feet of water or less in timber its not the best option. I would not want to beat the [censored] out of a Terrova in the shallows day in and day out. Does it work? sure, but it shines offshore.

Why don't they just come up with an i-pilot/spot lock feature for the fortrex? Am I missing something here? Seems obvious..

The Mount is a poor design! I also hate how it hangs off of the bow. I also do not like that you can not run the transducer wire down the shaft for a tmotor transducer. The whole setup is way less noisy than my previous motorguide.

My sandwich consumption has increased 10x thanks to the iPilot. Thanks Minn Kota! The Fortrex is just too much work. You have to constantly turn it on and change the direction. No thanks.

^^ lol
the other thing is the terrova is all 55" unless you get less than 80lb thrust and who would want that? and since its an 18' boat i dont think i would be able to open the rod locker unless that baby was hangin 2ft off the front of the boat

You can run all transducer cables down the grove in the shaft and thru the turning section with no issues except the Lowrance SI. I have a HB HDSI TD and the Hydrowave speaker cable running down the groove without any issues.

I have a terrova and love it. I fish a lot offshore but have no problem around stumps and rocks. Just watch what you are doing and if you get in a pickle lift the motor up by hand.
The bracket is kind of a pain but once you get used to it no problem. One warning..
Get the ram troll motor tie down. The bracket can self deploy in rough water. The ram mount will insure that doesn't happen.

Retirement best job ever.

Seems like Terrova for offshore is awesome, but like mentioned above I can't see it standing up to repeated shallow water pounding in stump filled creeks-that's a job for fortrex. I guess I'm just too rough on any trolling motor- have destroyed WAY too many of them.

Well I have a brand new maxxum on there now.. and I was thinkin about upgrading to the fortrex because somebody on here has one...
But I'm wondering if it wil l help me any or if its not worth the extra dough?
And since I was already thinkin about New trolling motor thought hey spot lock would be awesome!
But I do fish shallow more than deep..
Part of the thought process was that I could use I-pilot in place of power pole until I could afford one smile
