We had a great Texas State Championship for Crappie Anglers of Texas. Very impressive weights. Robert Howell noted that he had looked at the overall weights for Crappie Masters this year and the only Crappie Masters tour that had higher weights than this tour was Grenada. The north wind had the bite off today or the weights would have been higher. And I might add that Paul Hicks (txsmoker) was named Sportsman of the Year. Congrats to Paul. And congrats to CAT for a great tournament year.

Not many 2 day tournaments I've seen where you get 2nd with over 26 pounds. Congrats Larry and George. WOW! Nice stingers on that board.

Congrats to Paul Obier and Gary Sims(my hero) for winning D1 with 27.20! Fellas that is almost a 2 lb. average. OMG

Congrats to Hill/Hill for 1st in D2 with 25.65. Amazing!

My other congrats go to Chris Waters/ Willie Scott for 3rd in D2 and Cody and Johnny Standerfer for 5th in D2. This bunch has helped me out as true friends when I needed it most this year. My hat is off to both teams.

Congrats to all the rest of the participants and winners cause you are all winners or you wouldn't have made it this far.

Congrats to Paul Hicks for Sportsman of the year! I know Big Mack is smiling tonight.

cheers to all of you!

Hey CAT guys and gals. Glad to see y'all had a great tournament on our little lake. I don't want you to take this the wrong way at all, this is just a by standers view of the weigh in. I drove over to your weigh in yesterday to watch because I had never been to a Crappie tournament before. The problem is that I couldn't watch. When the contestants weighed in they were standing right in front of the scales, blocking the scales and the fish. Most of the time all I could see was the backs of the contestants. It was real hard to see the fish or the guys that caught them,. You had a nice set up there, but I would recommend having the contestants come from the side and stand beside the man doing the weighing and hold the fish up for everyone to see. Also block off the front so the other contestants can't stand in the way. And more use of the micro phone makes it allot easier for spectators to know what the fish weighed. These are just some thoughts I had. please don't take it as complaining. I may fish a couple of them next year with ya if I can find the time.

Bluetick, your thoughts are spot on. There were 19 fish over 2 lbs weighed in. Some of those needed to be held up. And some other big fish also. And the weights announced for each team. Here's just a sample of big fish:

Nelon and Middleton Day 1; 2.58lbs Day 2; 2.21lbs
Matura & Matura 2.46lbs
Waters/Scott 2.24lbs
Moun/Dyer 2.26lbs
Nugyen/Laws 2.30lbs

Hope to see ya at some tournaments next year. It's always fun.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm positive our CAT Board will take this information and apply it to future tourneys.

Hat tip to the CAT BOD for another well run tourney. Everything from lake selection, to seminar (great food), to tourney went well. I appreciate all you do for the club.

Congratulations to Paul Hicks and Mack Clark on winning the Sportsman of the year award!

Congratulations to Gary and Paul and Hill and Hill on their AOY wins! Also, congratulations to Dooley/Mcaffrey and Jordan/Gaby on their 2nd and 3rd AOY finish.

I want to welcome the Hills to Div. 1.

Lake Palestine results show why it is in the top 3 or 4 lakes in the state. There were some impressive weights weighed in.

Congratulations to the Obier/Sims and Hill/Hill on their victories as well as all the teams that placed well at the TSCC. Not only are Paul and Gary tough on the CAT trail, they are tough on any lake in the nation. More importantly they are great guys.

Congratulations to Dooley/Mcaffrey and Broadway/Merriman for winning the BnM Texas Challenge. What a payday for you guys.

Duck Jerky and I had a good time and are proud to be associated with such a fine group of people.

We can't wait for next year and are looking forward it!
