Third would be LOP for me.

Hubbard Creek used to be the best for both numbers and big fish. My Mother and 2 Aunts caught numerous 3 lb. crappie out of there in the 80's & 90's. With the water level problems Hubbard has had the last 10 years I am not sure how it is now.

It wouldn't surprise me if 14#+ was weighed in both days. Just sayin.

Just wondering what is the best big crappie lake in Texas, and what sizes you have caught? Thanks Steve It changes year to year in NM. Santa Rosa had big slabs and Elephant Butte has nice ones but more quantity. Then Ute had the big slabs. Here the drought and water levels that in turn effect the shad population has a ripple effect, that you see in the numbers and size. Says me that fishes pretty much only in the spring for crappie in New Mexico. I will let you know what I find in a few weeks at Rayburn. I have caught some big ones there.

There is a very small lake in East Texas that has monsters in it or did. In the past few years it has been over fished. My wife thirteen years ago caught one that was 20 1/2". All I had was the old spring type scales and it was rusted so couldn't get a weight. During the spawn, the small fish were 15".The fish she caught was on Easter and was released . Now for big fish it is Palestine or Fork for me. I only go to Palestine when Pepop doesn't have it closed.
