Just wondering what is the best big crappie lake in Texas, and what sizes you have caught?

The chicken coop on Toledo Bend is awesome Late fall. Fished it for the first time last year and caught 1 that was 17 1/2 ". Limited out evey time I went.

Toledo Bend has a good many big crappie and would be hard to beat! I have caught a good many over the last 12 to 14 years that are 17" and bigger. Now you don't catch one like that every time out, but they are here. Have caught a couple 18" or a little bigger, but it's been a while since I did that one.

If I was after a Crappie for the wall and had to limit myself to Texas and had two weeks to do it in. I would send out a couple PM's to some folks here on TFF then head for Toledo Bend. And if I didn't hook up with it in the first week, I would head to Palestine next. Everyone's idea of a trophy crappie is different, but if you know where to start, a 2+ lb. fish can be caught on either one of those lakes in a reasonable amount of time...JMO And welcome to the forum.  You could also call Big Crappie.com and save yourself some trouble. Those guys catch some nice fish consistantly... And I have caught a 3lb 2oz and a 3lb 8oz in my lifetime.
