I've got a Daiwa Viento baitcast that's only a few months old. The twitching bar in it just stopped working and I can't seem to fix it. Heck, I've probably made it worse trying to take it apart and get it going again. Has any one dealt with Daiwa before with good results? Any recommendations?

I have read about the twitching bar and most of the reviews said they were junk most only worked a short time and some never worked hope you can get your money back and go with another brand good luck.

Call them direct. They have exceptional customer service and will get you taken care of. The Viento is a good reel and the ones i had held up OK though I rarely used the twitching bar. I am speaking from experience just call them and they will make it right.

Thanks Mark, I appreciate the help. It's a great reel so I was sad to see it break.

Why should he need another brand? Daiwa makes exceptional gear, and I have 3 of these that I have used for years without issue.

That stated daiwa WILL take care of this, call the customer service number on the website, IF you cannot get taken care of that way and dont get the answers you need PM me. I am a rep and I WILL make sure you get taken care of.

Read the reviews about the twitching bar. All I am going to say about it. I am not running down your product thought about getting one for myself but after reading about the twitching bar went with something else.

Thats all fair and good John, and I know there were issues BUT daiwa will take care of you and anyone else as a customer, just dont lump all product together.

I can find problematic pieces in EVERY brand; including my own. The difference starts in just HOW it is handled by the company when the problem arises.

FWIW I have been a rep for a while but I was an avid Daiwa user from the time I was about 9. Over the years before joining up with them I was taken care of. And barring a brief jaunt with some other companies and a few items of preference I have been using their stuff pretty much my entire fishing life. Im not gonna say career because that would in my case be a laughable word.

Someone sent me a message saying they wanted 69.75 to replace a handle on a KVD reel.....Never heard of a daiwa KVD reel. someone wanna fill ME in here?

Didn't mean to disrespect you in any way. I think Daiwa makes great products just was repeating some of the reviews about the twitching bar. Sorry if I affended you. Hell I still have a old 1310 that work like new.

Not offended at all John, I just want people to know that they WILL stand behind products in a manner that would prob surprise the heck out of most customers.

Send back a 5 year old rod and see what they do; you would be surprised. The dont advertise lifetime warranties but I can just about promise they will either take care of the problem for free or offer you a replacement for a very fair discount.

Daiwa really doesnt get much attention here in Tx. A know a bunch of guys use them but the the retail market here is very focused on a handful of brands, it seems we really only get much recognition on the east/west coast areas.

I have tried to work with some local places but the reality is that none of them will carry the high end product (rod wise) due to the lack of recognition and sales turn around here. Not much one guy as a rep can do about it; but what I can do is my best to support and assist those that have bought our products.

I just wanted to dispel the fact that he needed "another brand". I have to ask if your experiences with some daiwa items are good why would you say another brand and not another model? You dont need to justify here just pm me as I am curious more than anything if you had a string of bad experiences or just with the viento.

I broke a Daiwa Light and Tuff rod about 2 years ago and it was my fault, tried to swing a 5 lb fish into the boat with a med action rod...I know...stupid. Sent them the rod with a nice note. They sent me a replacement for free. I just had to pay for shipping it to them. I will buy more Daiwa equipment with that kind of support.

Thanks for all the feedback. It's good to know a company will stand by their product. Chris, Is there a specific number I need to call for product support?
