I posted in the General Equipment area but there doesn't seem to be much activity down there. Question???
Is the 1198 worth $930 more than the 998?

the large screen makes a huge differiance. Is it worth the money? You and your wallet will have to answer that.

Good friend has a 1198 and I have a 798. Not what you asked but I'd never have gotten my 798 and saved for another 17 years if I would have known the difference. Good luck sir.

i went from a 900 series to an 1100 series. i like the 1100 better obviously but i would be hard pressed to say its worth close to $1000 more. Its nice to have the bigger screen but for me I have not seen it magically put more fish in the boat than the previous one I had. Its all relative I guess, if you can get a great deal on one or don't mind the cost then by all means do it but the 900 series is not second rate by any means.
