Hey guys I love the light weight of the carrot stick. Had heard so many terrible things about them. What rod would you recommend in the $0-$120 dollar range that is light like the carrot stick. I fish crankbaits all the time and want a lighter rod

Depending on what size cranks, but for small to medium it is hard to beat the castaway go2 crank rod, or for a little more the skeleton medium cranker
Both are great rods

The castaway rods are good rods but not nearly as light as the Carrot Stix. I second the Falcon Bucoo.
Some folks say that fishin on a Sunday is a sin, but if a fish bites my line, you know I'm gonna reel him on in!

I have several Carrot Sticks and love them. Havent broke one yet!!! But I also take care or my equipment. Only rod I have broke was a BPS crappie rod which didnt hold up to a 3 pound bass.
If you go to BPS or Cabelas you will usually find broken rods of all makes. I have seen more broken Daiwa Steez rods than any other manufacturer.
Gary Loomis founder of GLoomis and currently with TFO stated that 90 something percent of rod breakage is from misuse or mis handling

Academy and Walmart in the Dallas area have Falcon Bucco's. If you have those stores in NC, you might try them.

It totally depends on the size of crankbaits you plan on using it for. My small crankbait rod is a St. Croix Premier 70MM and it is very light with a superb parabolic action, but I wouldn't use it for the higher end of its lure weight rating, I wouldn't use it for anything over 3/8 to 1/2 oz (and the 1/2 oz is pushing it). For 1/2 oz to 3/4 oz baits I would go with the 70MHM. Great rod, great company, and they retail for $120 at BPS (but it's not difficult to catch one for $100).

Check out the Denali Jadewood cranking rods. I use the 7' Med. It has a very small blank and is very lightweight. $99 with a Limited Lifetime Warranty. I don't think you can find a nicer rod in that price range.

I have been using the Carrot Stix for several years now , with 0 issues. Light & sensative , they make a good rod IMO.
