As many of you may remember from the OT a couple weeks ago, I was struggling to put together a trip to Caddo with my buddy over Labor Day weekend (lots of drama not worth bringing up). Long story short… It all worked out, and the trip was great. The hurricane completely bypassed the Shreveport, and we even had a bright full moon to fish both nights.

Sorry this is report is a couple weeks late. I did really well bangin the banks with a Texas rig in deeper water. The bite was best from dusk till around 2AM. I caught a couple on a jig, but the best bite came from when I was using a 10" TriggerX worm in junebug and biting about 1.5 inches off the nose (I like the long tail). Slowly working laydowns, docks, and cypress stumps was the ticket. I had several blow ups on a frog, but only landed a couple (typical from my frog experiences). I never found much in the pads, or from punching the thick stuff. I’m sure if they’re there if you know where to look. Largest fish of the trip was just over 5lb, but also had a 4.1# and a 4.7#.

The water was a little low, but I was still able to run my big engine all over that lake. Caddo is an unbelievable fishery, full of beautiful scenery, and healthy fish. If you’ve never been you really are missing out.

My Hump Day contributions…

That lake is awesome. I loved fishing that lake. Has allot of Lilly pads. Great top water. Great pitching and flipping the knees. Not only great for bass. But crappie on that lake are huge. Can't wait to go back

I've only been one time and while the fishing wasn't great for me I still had a blast and would like to go back sometime. It was really relaxing out there. It was fun to just drive around and look at the lake.

The lake is getting lower by the day.....we need some rain!!! Fall is great on Caddo and they will be killing the shad like soft plastics around the pads!

I live near Shreveport and fish Caddo frequently. When I was considering moving to Louisiana from Illinois, Caddo was the lake I fished the day after I interviewed for the job. It was all I needed to decide to make the move! Amazes me how many people in Shrevport, just 20 or 30 minutes from Caddo have never been on what is arguably one of the most scenic lakes in the US. The fishing is awesome for both bass and crappie!

So many fish, so little time.
