Am back from Port A, and many thanks for all of those that advised me before my trip. Landed a 25" and a 28" Red. The highlight was landing a 33" Tarpon. What a thrill !! Thanks again.

Luck to you Time4Fun. The jetty has been producing on an incoming tide on the beach side. Try just at the end of the second paved section.

Just got back from a company retreat as well, golf and in shore fishing, great time.

We had 8 consultants down there, one lives there with a boat and one keeps a boat in a slip. so we hired one guide per day, to make it three people per boat. The guides worked their tails off but had little to show, day one produced several non keeper reds and trout and 4 very big black drum, day two resulted in a several small trout, and under reds, with a keeper trout, flounder and a red fish. One of our consultants hit it big both days, brought in 9 reds for 76 pound on friday and 9 reds for 86 pounds on saturday. Left the areas with fish biting both days.

I admired how hard each of these guides worked both days, for most the bite has been tough down there.

The bite has been tough all week, but a day on the water is a free one before heaven, or maybe a prelude to. I lost several good fish just reeling in a bare hook. Somehow it just made me smile.

What reel did you finally decide on using with your 10' rod?

I got a used Penn Int. 975 cs/ld off of the net. The reel was great, but I had to much rod for what I was doing.
