Many of the blanks I have purchased have been disappointing, but I still buy a few from time to time just to try them. You are taking your chances as to if they will run right. You almost need to test them first before going to the work of painting and clear coating them. All the places will likely take them back, if they don't work. Many I have purchased filled with water, get moisture in them and the ballast rusts, or don't run right no matter how you tune them. It's a .... shoot as to the quality. Do a great paint job and then the bait doesn't run right or fills with water. Kind of defeats the purpose. I have read that www.unpaintedlures.com has good blanks, but have never purchased from them. Their blanks look the same as others that sell them, so I don't know what the difference is. Maybe there is one. I have purchased from bustin, predator, off ebay and a place that is no longer in business (crankbaitparts.com). Some blanks have been great, others terrible (even among the same style, e.g. - RC1.5 and 2.5 knockoffs). Other than painting ghost patterns on clear baits I think you are better off buying a name brand bait, prime it white, and then repaint to your specs. For ghost patterns you have to get a clear blank and stripping them usually mars the bait and takes a bunch of time. I have heard you can use a blast cabinet and blast the paint off with the right media (plastic beads). Never tried it, but if you have access to a cabinet and the media you might give it a try. My two cents worth, based on my experiences with knock-off blanks.

I used Jannsnetcraft. Good service, and no bull.

Try Dakota Lakes Tackle. Has some how to videos and other stuff. I just found this site and haven't used them so I can't say how good the blanks are.
