Over the past couple years I have had several different brand spinnerbaits break on me at the line tie area. Some of these spinnerbaits had only a couple fish to their credit, others were well used. My question is: Is the fact that I use 30lb braid and a MH rod making this happen more often? Would I be better off to use flourocarbon because of the additional stretch?

To me you need that stretch. And maybe the braid is weakening the wire then the fish are breaking it. Thats just a thought

Do you adjust your wire much? How stretched out did it get with those few fish? That wire can only take so much bending.

Sometimes the wire was never really ever bent or re-tuned. Probably a matter of needing more stretch in the line.....

Maybe the line is cutting into the aluminum on the wire and causing weakness. I wouldn't throw a spinnerbait on braid anyway. The fish do a pretty good job of hooking themselves on a spinner so the overkill, to me, would cause a lot of hooks to be ripped out. IMO.

no problems with braid, buy a better quality blade like a war eagle or talon.

I wouldn't use braid. It's already been said but I think you need a little bit of stretch and braid won't give that. That being said Alot of brands just don't hold up for me. H20 express spinners are great but only good for a couple of fish in my experience. Strike king maybe a couple more. But war eagles and terminators hold up for me a lot better. There is a very noticeable difference.

Only one I've ever had break at the tie was a Hart, cost me money that day... And it was a brand new bait.
I throw a spinnerbait a lot, always have. I've slung blades plenty of times and had heads break loose from the wire but that was the first wire failure I've ever had. I also use baits that I KNOW will end up,at some point, having to be retired due to being bent up too much by fish.
I'm partial to Santone, Stanley and Bumper Stumper for my store bought baits. Joe at weedless lures at Fork builds my "specialty baits" for me, never had a problem with them.
Never thrown them on braid (cause I don't like braid) and never crossed my mind to throw them on Floro.

War Eagles have been some of the worst offenders so far. Booyah quality has gone down hill over the last several years as well.

I just don't catch fish on War Eagle or Booyah like I do the others so I don't throw them a lot... Probably a confidence thing but I like my baits to be built a certain way and do certain things and those two don't work for me personaly.

Btw, I've probably lost the most blades off of Stanley baits but I keep throwing/buying them. Y?? Cause they catch fish.

I usually use mono only on spinnerbaits. You don't need the extra sensitivity of fluoro or braid. Plus those two types of line are more money. I lose less fish with mono and a lighter action rod since its harder to overpull and rip the hook out which is easy to do since many times fish are barely hooked in the corner of the mouth. As for the breakage I don't know what to tell you I quit buying stuff from all the brands listed long ago and make my own 100% of the time.

My good ol' Stanely spinnerbaits take offense to that.

Im thinking you neeed to upgrade your spinnerbaits as well, If your wire is breaking its because the wire aint worth squat to begin with. Terminators are tough like 3 day old round steak.
