A 12 inch Texas rigged worm?

I have been throwing ten inch worms using a 5/0 wide gap. Thats been working fine.

Is that going to be cool to use the 5/0 on the 12 inch worms too? They are the Manns Jelly worms if that matters.

Thanks guys!

5/0 should be fine

I'm more concerned with the baits thickness than length

+1....

The gap of the hook should be roughly twice the diameter of the worm as a general rule of thumb.

An example of needing a big hook on a short bait would be a Double Wide Beaver style bait. Even though the bait is only 5" long you would want a 5/0 or even 6/0 wide gap hook due to the thickness and bulk of the bait.

I like the long shank on those.

That was one concern I have with the 5/0. Its so short the fish would have to really attack the "head" of the bait and get it in there deep.

I think the 5/0 will work. But I am going to order some of those 7/0. Just for the length of that shank.

Something to consider is fish eat things head first, I dont really think you would need that big of a hook on a 12 inch worm, but thats just my opinion.
