As a Coangler, (Backseater), I suggest taking 6 rigs over 4, but with that comes responsibility. ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS, Don't take a rolling mechanics tool chest as your tackle box! Think and take what you think you might need for Amisted. Take a speed bag for your plastics and take a fairly empty bag to drop your bait and lures in as you change out throughout the day. Tha t empty bag will save you time and keep you organized. With carrying six rods, you don't want a bunch of lose gear on the floor. That empty bag is awesome and a must as you are on someone else's boat!

6 rods sounds like a lot to me. I usually carry 4 when fishing from another's boat and carry a couple extra reels in case of mechanical or operator error and I wad up the line. Most of the time I don't have 6 rods out even in my own boat. I don't like having the other guys rods on my front deck and the storage area beside passenger seat holds 4 good but 6 would be a bit much also.

Great advice, especially the empty bag and extra reel. Thanks for the input.

First thing to do is talk with the boater you will be fishing with. Too much depends on the size of the boat and how much room the boater has available. The boater should certainly make sufficient room available for you to carry the necessary amount of rods and baits but that is for the two of you to work out.
All of us have our opinions about what we would do but we are not the boater or the back seater in this case. I will be at Amistad this weekend also fishing from my boat and have already told my partner to bring whatever he wants/needs and we will find a place for it. I have a 21 ft boat which makes it a lot easier than someone with an 18 ft boat. But that has nothing to do with the boater you are fishing with. Y'all talk it over and work out what is best.
