Hit the water just before 6pm yesterday with another "newbie". We didn't have the "beer can" boat of mine and used my buddies center console. It is funny how my boat only has a 798 side image and a Eagle 642, and we can read them better than his 1198??? It is actually the traditional Lowrance/Eagle sonar (2d) that we can read better than the Humminbird traditional sonar. With the 1198 we didn't have a clue what was what on the 2d. Everything looked like fish, haha. Anyway, he will have an Eagle/Lowrance color graph on the CC very soon! Back to the report, we were basically fishing blind yesterday (except the awesome side image). We hit Hackberry hump to start and marked fish on the side image....put down the slabs and it was fish on! That died down after about 20 fish and we headed to the White House Hump. Marked tons of fish with the Humminbird 2d sonar (aka "Liar Fishfinder") and eventually caught a few there. Lastly, we decided to use our instincts and hit the shallows. No fish finder needed for this task! We probably caught another 50 fish in 45 minutes to an hour in 6 fow using tailspinners from Moestackleshop.com. Going to bring out a TFF'r tonight on the "beer can" boat! Come by and say "Hi" if you are on the water. That's right, turn your head to the left again...... The "Coffin Pic"

Actually we are finding ther Dr Peppers in about 50 FOW suspended about 20 feet. You have to use "Washington" fish finders to catch them effectively! haha

That's us doing our part to keep the lake clean!
I got the bug to fish again but I am in the penalty box. Good luck!

No SuperDuck, it's not August anymore I guess we better ask the "experts" if September is "Hero" time too! I'm glad I save money by getting 2 slabs for under $3 from Moestackleshop.com I was able to save money and get a couple graphs to help find the fish and get a camera to video the results!

The only bad thing about video is that I can't embellish my fishing stories anymore.......that kind of takes the "man" out of "fisherman".

good stuff! So, the fall fish are in the shallows now? I havn't been doing very well in the 20-30 ft depth. As for fish finders, my Hummingbird always shows tons of fish but, my new HD DI Lowrance shows nata!
Tight Lines! God Bless

Here is a video I made of our trip. It is about 12 minutes long. There is a good unedited segment in the middle/end where PittState is just schooling the sandies. Enjoy!

Hmmmmmmm Me & a buddy were out from 1pm to dusk with 3 fish to show for it. Guess our 80 years combined fishing experience is way overrated and we still dont know WTF we are doing. We will be sure to follow your posts more closely from now on so we can be a bit more productive in our endeavors.
