This one has great colors!

That is what we have always called them. laugh

We lived in the Sabine River bottom between Tatum and Marshall for years and there were tons of them.

I had one drying that my neighbor killed that was 7' 6" long, almost 16" in girth and had 13 rattlers and a button! OMG

The neighbors dogs got into the shed and destroyed it. frown

I killed one once that had 11 rattles plus a button. He was coiled and ready to strike. When he uncoiled he was longer than the one pictured.

Did that snake rattle at you? I came across a 5 ft Eastern Timber and it did not rattle at us. I have read that they have stopped rattling because the pigs will hear and come eat them. We have alot of pigs in Centerville and that is where I saw the snake. Just wondering what the snake that you saw did. Thx.

We saw it cross the river, it looked huge in the water. My son thought it was a python....I laughed.

It was very docile. We went over and it just laid there and did not move. Got a stick to move it along and only coiled up when I started to move it. It barely rattled for a few seconds and no more. I was assuming if it was poked with a stick, it would rattle its tail off. Nope.

Are you saying this snake is more poisonous than the normal rattlesnake?

Why? Because they like to hide in trees, at eye level? The Eastern Diamondback is the most dangerous of the rattlers. It has a large dose of venom that is more toxic than that of a Timbler Rattler. So why is the Timber "way more dangerous?"
