Here we go - Fall is Coming - And it only gets better from here banana

Here is the latest Fishing Report:

Texas Guide Fishing- Mark Parker
The last Summer Holiday (Labor Day) - has ended and everything slows down on our lakes – Expect for the fishing. Fishing just keeps getting better during the fall. It much like Spring – all the fish go on sea food diet – they see food and they eat it (all they can). Personally I like Fall better than Spring – the weather is more consistent, fishing just as good (maybe better) and hardly anyone on the lake – expect for you and me. Give me a call or Email - Let’s Go Get’Em! Don’t miss the Fall Fishing!

Tip of the week: Versatility

I think the most fun fishing (and for life in general) is when you’re learning something new – be it fishing for Crappie, White Bass, Hybrids, Stripers, Black Bass, Cats (Blues, Trophy Blues, Channels and Flat Heads). And the key is - if you Do It ALL and Keep Learning - You Will Never Tire of Fishing – keeping it fresh and fun.

Another bonus to learning it all is that you can always just go with whatever ever is working best at that time – which is never a bad idea. Push the easy button – catch those that are On Right Now. Or when your personal target fish is just not cooperating – you have other options (fish) to go with – keeping it fun (and catching).

All of those fish are unique, and it’s fun to acquire an understanding of each (what habitat they like (which changes with the seasons), favorite baits (which changes at times), spawning patterns, times, grounds, their hunting methods, etc…). But they do all follow one simple basic rule – which is their food source. That’s their number one priority!

During this fall when all the fish are biting pretty darn good spend some time fishing for a variety of fish – learning something new. It keeps it FUN!

Back to the Fishing Report:

The Hybrids and White Bass are Slow – They have slowed over the past few weeks. Still catching 40 to 70 White Bass each trip but very hard to get. And Hybrids are even harder . Been using the Gunslinger Slabs from www.RoostersTackle.com . A little early Morning Top Water action on the White Bass and then it’s on to the humps and bumps for the rest of the morning’s fishing.

The Blue Cats are Good – I’ve been fishing points and humps with shad (cut gizzard shad being best) in 18 to 25 feet of water. As the white bass pick back up – so will the Blue Cats, which should be very, very soon. They are FUN Too and Eat So, SO GOOD - Much like Crappie!

The Black Bass are Fair – Hit the banks early (or very shallow humps) and begin working out deeper as the morning sun raises. During the summer months I like the deeper water cover spots (under water stumps, laydown logs, brush piles and even standing timber) targeting 10 to even 25 feet of water. With the Great Stocking we’ve had on the Black Bass the past few years – The future looks Very Good on these for the next few years to come. I Love those Blacks - caught this one in 20 plus feet of water & Released:

The Crappie are Good – Good reports on Standing Timber in 18 to 30 ft of water fishing 12 to 15 feet down (just keep moving and hitting new trees). And Brush Piles are good in 14 to 25 feet of water. When it starts gets hot (mid-Morning) move to get under the bridges (for you and the Crappie). Been getting good reports under the bridges.
Today 9/4/12 limit out:

Give me a call or Email to set up your next successful fishing trip – hope to see you soon.

Have Fun, Be Safe – Just keep what you need and release the rest, (And Always Enjoy)

Nice shots and report

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Sept (Overall) has generally been tough on RC for the Hybrids and White Bass - but there is more fish in the kettle than that – Here is the last Sept report,

Can you feel it? Fall is in the Air! And there is no better time of the year to be on our lakes. Fall is much like Spring – all the fish go on Sea Food Diet – they see food and they eat it (all they can). Personally I like Fall better than Spring – the weather is more consistent, fishing just as good (arguably better) and hardly anyone on the lake – expect for you and me. Give me a call or Email - Let’s Go Get’Em! Don’t miss the Fall Fishing!

Tip of the week: Make a Great Cast

I’m talking with your Cast Net to catch bait – Not your rod. Here in the fall those shad are easy to catch! Right at daylight the shad move into the shallows again – you can see them pinging the top of the water. But after a long summer your net is probably very stiff and perhaps even a little torn up. It’s a great time to repair your net by using mono to stitch up those tears.

To condition your cast net (if you haven’t used it in a while or if it’s a brand new cast net) simply soak it overnight in fabric softener and water. Then the next day stretch it out in a complete and full circle on the ground and let dry in the sun for about 6 hours.

Your Cast Net will be soft and workable, performing much better and should now fully open.

For assistance on how to throw Cast Nets – several free You Tube videos are out there on the Internet. But trust me - however you end up throwing your cast net - it will end up being somewhat unique.

Back to the Fishing Report:

The Hybrids and White Bass are Fair – They have gone from slow to fair and will quickly go back to very good. Catching 40 to 70 White Bass most trips. And now Hybrids are starting to show back up on most trips. Been using the Gunslinger Slabs from www.RoostersTackle.com . A little early Morning Top Water action on the White Bass and then it’s on to the humps and bumps for the rest of the morning’s fishing.

The Blue Cats are Good – I’ve been fishing points and humps with shad (cut gizzard shad being best) in 18 to 30 feet of water. As the white bass pick back up – so do the Blue Cats, which is now as you read this. Get out here and get you some (they run a little bigger this time of year).

The Black Bass are Fair – Top water season for the Black Bass is on Now thru October - early mornings and late evenings. During the day work a little deeper with your plastics. I Love the Fall Bass fishing.

The Crappie are Good – Good reports on Standing Timber in 18 to 30 ft of water fishing 10 to 17 feet down (just keep moving and hitting new trees till you find them). And Brush Piles are good in 14 to 20 feet of water. The bridges are always good during the fall on RC. Limits are common at this time. Use minnows to locate them and then switch to jigs once found to conserve those minnows to find more again.

Give me a call or Email to set up your next successful fishing trip – hope to see you soon.

Have Fun, Be Safe – Just keep what you need and release the rest, (And Always Enjoy)

C U in October, smile
