I've spent the evening cleaning reels and stripping old line off and am planning on putting on new line in the morning. I've got two baitcasters I use the most. One's an Abu Garcia 6600 D5 and the other is an old Abu Garcia 5000C. Have been completely satisfied with both of them.

I've been using 10lb. mono on one and Power Pro 30lb. on the other, but was wondering what some of the good striper fisherman on here would recommend. I've been fishing stripers on Texoma my whole life, usually on top water and usually used between 10 and 12lb. mono that entire time. I put the braided stuff on about 3 years ago and I'm not sure how much I like it. It seems like there's not much give in it and I'm afraid I've lost a couple of good fish because it worked a hole in their mouths for the hook to pop out.

Any thoughts?

Have you tried to use 6 feet fluorocarbon line as leader and tied with the PowerPro? As you know that fluorocarbon does not stretch like mono. I could be wrong....

That gorilla braid and such power pro and such is junk.Should be outlawed. It breaks for no reason at all.toss it and buy big game.10 lb is all you need for texoma. If water is clear use 8 Re _tie often.

Keep em tight!
