ive been looking at some pods online, im probably a couple months from buying, even a cheap one, but im curious. What is the biggest difference between the differently priced pods. i want a 3 rod pod, and most seem to be a 3 rod, i see some like http://www.scorpiontackle.com/eco-pod-p-245.html that are $40, and i see some that are $300. they all seem to do the exact same thing. They all look adjustable, they all hold the same rests and alarms.

I understand price differences in things like rods and reels, those can make a huge huge difference, but im just not seeing the major differences in price. can somebody help me out?

as of right now, im probably going to go with the eco pod, unless somebody can point me in a better direction.

Material is the main difference. Some are hollow aluminum others are solid stainless. Some are fiberglass and others are plastic.

I thank God for each day!

I prefer goalpost style pods for stability but you youre not going to go rod tips straight up unless you use storm poles instead of the front banksticks.
Here is my Nash 4play pod. I've had it for a few years now and it is still exactly what i wanted in a pod. It has a great carry case, screw on feet for non-grass surfaces(boat docks, piers, concrete, etc...)

I bought the ecopod. Its not bad. I replaced the buzzbars for about 5 bucks a piece from wacker baits. Wider between poles. Even though I only used two poles, go figure.

Carp - (PB 14)
Buffalo - (PB 22.4)
Koi - (PB 3)

Can depend on how many rods you use and the type of indicators you prefer , pods with one central extending bar are perfect for a 2 rod set up, if you use three rods, and prefer swingers to bobbins, the single central extender bar can be a problem as it interferes with the swingers movement range, I used to use alloy pods, but changed when a few alloy threads sheared when trying for that last fractional turn to get everything lines up, they were Wychwood as well
I use heavy pods now, if you're fishing clamped up tight against snags, with no baitrunner line freedom Light pods just get tipped over, more than once i've been playing one fish, and a second has screamed away dragging the pod round.
I use the Diawa Infinity Stainless now, its a beast of a thing and expensive, can take 4 rods, but because of the twin extender bars, there are no restrictions on your indicators, no matter which type you use

The Horizon is a great all-purpose pod. Very stable, versatile, and easy to set up. I've had two; one I still use for the B Team- I got that one used about 6 years ago. It was in the Purtis Creek pics.
