I was able to find this same unit at Academy for $20 less.
I am liking that this comes with a dry box, but i am concerned with the wring? The battery has the pos and neg prongs in the box that lead to a single cord. I am thinking i could splice the end of the cord and add some sort of terminal connector. If yall have any feed back or ideas please share. Thanks, Adrian

Kinda pricey, I don't know that a dry box is even necessary.

I found it at academy for 39.99. Isnt that near what a 12v deer feeder runs? I plan on mounting my mark4 dsi gps, with the transducer off a liberator, and the battery all on a side board onto my Ride 135 track

Thanks for the feedback guys. I know it's a bit overkill but I have to pull it off and put it back on every time I get to the water and back home . I think 40 bucks is worth the convenience.

I use 8 rechargable AA batteries. I keep a spare set in my yak, but so far I get about 8 hours out of them. Going to add a pump for my live well, when I do that, then I will go to a bigger battery.

$40 is a good price for that. I essentially built the same thing from one of those orange sportsman's boxes that Academy sells and by the time I bought a fuze and a grommet and goop it was over $40.

I'm with bidcaller. 8 recharable AA batteries runs my lowrance all day. This holder is under $3 at radio shack. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062242
I take two of them and I'm good for the weekend. It's smaller then a pack of smokes.

corrected 9-11-12.
I learned something new today. I was trying to compare the stack of 8 AA batteries to my current setup with the 8Ah gel cell from my old alarm system.

A typical alkaline AA battery has about 2Ah and there rechargeables with up to 2.5Ah. In series, they don't really know about each other so they still providee 2.5Ah.

The whole stack of 8x 1.5V batteries will provide 12V at 2.5Ah.

Perhaps since the voltage is just being stepped up the Ah is still 2-2.5Ah, not sure what you'd see in real life usage though?
