Can't wait for more folks to chime in on this one. I should of taken some pics this weekend but I was so dumb founded I couldn't believe what i saw. Some wisenhimer has put about 30pcs of 1/2" rebar in stumps headed to the back of no name @ Fork. Wouldn't be so bad if they would have made them 4' tall w/PVC, oh no, they made them 2' tall so that when the lake comes up, LOOK OUT!I must say they did a heck of a job driving those babies in, they aren't coming out.All are marked w/PVC and really look nice for now. hammer

If I ever catch someone in the act, it won't be a happy conversation.

Rebar should not be used ever no matter how tall it is. They will rust and break off eventually leaving a short stub sticking out of the top of the stump.

Forgive my ignorance but what is the purpose of driving rebar into a stump? Is it an attempt to identify it for boaters?

Metal stakes of any kind are illegal. Notify the game warden.

Will SRA do anything about removing them?

Can they be cut off, then driven into the stump. Or would that just make it worse as the stump rots?

Any ideas on designing a light, but strong rebar puller? Maybe with a small 5-ton hydraulic or something with leverage.

You will think nice til the water rises and PVC floats off of rebar and rebar is right at surface or just under it and it rips gouges out of the hull of your boat. I tore a boat up 3 yrs ago when someone thought a t-post would be good to drive in lake to tie a trot line to. Some people just don't think or care before they do some or the things they do.
