Both my trolling motor batteries and the battery for the outboard were stolen out of my boat at my storage area. I have since changed storage facilities. They also stole my power cord on my travel trailer.
I was just wondering on the main battery, how do I find out how many cold cranking amps are needed when I buy a new one. I dont remember what the last one was. Thanks for the help. I have a 200HP Johnson Venom

I just buy the highest rated one available. Personally for my cranking battery I use Interstate 1000 amp and they serve me well. I paid something like $120 for it at Westside Hardware in Tool, Tx.

You asked for how many CCAs, not MCAs to buy. Big difference!
You should buy/run the correctly sized cranking battery (not a deep cycle) for your specific motor and boat setup.

Interstate does not currently sell a 1000 CCA rated Marine battery. Their biggest battery is 800 CCAs and it comes in two different RC (reserve Capacity minutes) sizes.

Look up the CCA (or MCA) spec of the needed size of cranking battery called for your model motor on the Johnson web site, then buy that very rated battery, with as many Reserve Capacity RC minutes as you can afford and physically fit in the compartment. RC minutes are what runs your electronics and help keep you battery from being over discharged in a typical bass boat.. Buying Extra unused CCA/MCA cranking amps will add unnecessary weight/costs and will not likely make your motor battery last any longer, while buying RC minutes will.

you want a cranking or dual purpose not a straight deep cycle. there is a huge difference in the way they discharge for use.
get max cca and for that engine I would get a wal mart grp 29 dual purpose.
virtually all batteries are made by johnson control and sold under different brand names. a very select few will be slightly different due to specs demanded by the company ordering them.
even optima are made by johnson control.
