Saw this guy cross the Red River while we were fishing. Thought is was a copperhead until I saw the rattles.

Some may call it a Canebrake. There are a lot of color variations but they are the exact same snake. There is no biological difference between the two. There can be coloration differences like many snakes found in different parts of the US. "Canebrake" is a regional name used in Georgia.

This one has great colors!

It blends in pretty well in the daylight. Wouldn't want to come across it at night.

Pretty snake. The markings are great. Did you kill it ? If so I guess it is a pretty dead snake.
