This really infuriates me how the COE could manage to do such a sh!t job clearing for a boat lane at Lake o the Pines. Not only is it dangerous, but you would think that these stumps would have been in their way while setting the post marking what they consider to be a boat lane. Just another reason why I have no use for the COE.

If it weren't for the coe you wouldn't have a lake to be running your boat on.

If you aren't supposed to run pole to pole, why would they have them? Not only that, but they have noted with the green and white arrow, the correct side to run your boat on. If that boat road looks clear to you guys, take a stab at running it on plane next chance you get, and see how that works out for you....but make sure your insurance policy is up to date before you do. Good luck.

At regular level you would be ok and would just run tight to the poles. Yes since lake is 3.5 to 4 feet low now you would think the corps would take this time to do a little work on some boat lanes, and ramps. I just hope if it rains enough this winter to fill it back up they don't let it all out again.

They will tell you they are not in the fishing and boating business, they are in the water management business. I've been told that several times throught the years.

Sorry i don't feel the corp adds much value to lakes. Usually some river authority does way more than the COE

bunch of whiny-azz bitties...

The lake is 4' low - maybe it's not a good idea to run the river section at that level and someone recognized that long ago when they set the marker poles. When fork was 7' low and the stumps in the boat runs / lanes were visible, people started posting the waypoints for the hazards. That information now lives on in my gps units so that when the lake get that low again I can still navigate it.

Maybe some of you LOP guys could start doing the same and post the waypoints of the boat run hazards.

In the past, I have thought this too about the COE. Last year when the water was so low at our lakes, stumps were everywhere and thought, gee what a great time to trim some or at least mark with with something.

It's always easy to point and say "they shoulda..." when it would probably be far easier to do it yourself. Since most people can relate to "not my job" syndrome, when is someone ever going to take the initiative?

BTW, not my job, I don't own a boat.

If they are in the WATER MANAGEMENT they sure do a crappy job of that when they drain our lakes so low waiting for it to rain to fill them back and then it doesn't and we r worse off.
