While we were fishing yesterday inside @ Juniper Cove Marina, there were hundreds of small hybrids. One person caught one,and we all could not believe this,as there were also small baby strippers.I have always heard that the strippers can not reproduce in Whitney and they have to be re-stocked each year. There is nothing on the states web site as for as putting in hybrids .

May your wiener schnitzel always stay above your lederhosein.

I caught a hybrid on one of the points near cedron a few springs ago so they're in there, whether they occur naturally or were stocked I don't know.

er, hybrids don't occur "naturally" anywhere, that's why they are called hybrids. If TPWD or other game and fish dept didn't specifically breed them and stock them, they wouldn't exist anywhere. They go thru the motions of breeding in the spring but do not successfully do so on their own. Strictly a "put and take" fishery. But, they could easily end up downstream of any lake that currently has them stocked so Whitney is not out of the question.

I have heard that it is possible to get natural hybrids if the stipers and whites are spawning at the same time in the same river. I caught a hybrid once in Texoma and I do not believe there are any upstream lakes that are stocked with them.

Natural spawning is not going to occur in Whitney most years. Not enough flow. Never in Granbury. I've caught a few in the river near Kimble bend. Granbury never had any stocked. Some came from the hatchery at PK by accident and made it down to Whitney.. The striper population has not rebounded from GA in Granbury due to no stocking. If SlabSlayer is catching a lot of hybrids in Granbury, he's the only one. I live there. Had some years ago but not now and not tons of them. There's not tons of anything in Granbury except for idiots in ski-boats and jet skis.

Many strippers cannot reproduce because they've been fixed and it would hinder their ability to survive. Those that can often end up becoming waitresses.
