I am going to buy a new saltwater spinning reel. Buying 2 additional spools as to switch out lines poundage. I want a good ( money not a prob) reel. I want to use it for surf fishing as well as off shore, Tuna, bill, yahoo etc. looking at The Stella's as well as Diawa's reels and even Van Staal's. Line weight from 40 lb for inshore, to 60, 80, or 100 for Tuna. Let's have the feedback no smart [censored] comments. I but top end reels cause I can and like them. Usually end up giving them away to one of my fellow TFF friends I go with every now & then. I appreciate your input and knowledge

I really like the Okuma spinning reals for the price and durability.

Penn!!!! They clank like an old Harley, but they keep on reelin. An American classic!!!!!

About 10 years or more ago, OKUMA was THE reel to have. A friend of mine became a bass pro or what ever they call those guys for them, and he talked about the drop in quality, and other problems with the whole operation, he dropped them and got on with Schimano or somebody like that.

Okuma then revamped their line up a few years ago and seem to have gotten it back together again.

I have heard from a few of the bass guys I keep up with and many are going to the Komodo.

I haven't heard much about their spinning gear.

I have had 2 Okuma bait runner reels for 10 years and they have never failed me. My buddy has a Shimano baitrunner reel and it's been at the shop for all kinds of problems before it finally broke down. I have dropped mine on rocks back in MA while fishing off jettys and it still works like a charm. Plus the baitrunner switch is positioned in a better spot on the Okuma. My other choice would be a Penn liveline or Penn spincasting reel. They have such a wide spool and can hold so much line. If you are going for big fish then I would recommend a good Penn reel. They are proven and have a bigger line capacity.

Sincerely,

Ricky
