Can you pack a self inflating HIT life jacket in your luggage (on a airplane)?
Sorry it's not much of a bass question....but I knew ya'll would know!! I could get a faster response here. Thanks!!

I would think compressed gas canisters would be against FAA regulations.

Thanks! Sounds like it's okay to take them.

Just take the CO2 cylinder out and buy a new one when you get there. Then try bringing it back. That way they don't try and take the whole life jacket and you are only out $20.
Or just take the CO2 out of the jacket and just pack it normally in your luggage.

Hum.....so I can unscrew the CO2 and reuse the same CO2?
Put both of them in my checked baggage?

I have with mine before. Then just screw it back in. Just don't pull the cord or anything on accident or else you might have to buy a replacement for the little arming clip.
Not sure about putting it in luggage, but if you are going to try, then def take it out of the jacket.

I called Mustang and they said each airlines is different. Here is what I found on AA website. BUT see the note section..."TSA may confiscate"
Per AA website -
"Self-Inflating Life Jackets
Example
Life jackets inflated by CO2 cartridges
Allowed For Travel?
Yes
Notes
Limit to one per passenger in checked baggage only.
TSA may confiscate."
