I was thinking about different ways to get bait far out from shore without having to buy a kayak. Thought about kite fishing but that seemed like a real pain in the butt and only good when the wind was in my favor. Murphy's law is there will be no wind every time I would get out fishing or the wind would be going towards the beach lol! So I started thinking about rigging up a remote controlled RC Boat. Find out on line that people are already using them. They make a pin that holds the line while the bait is in a box in the back of the boat. Then they would hit the switch that would drop the pin letting go of your line and dumping your bait in to the water. You would have to put your drag on at that point to drop the bait from the back of the boat. How cool is this! Has anybody out there tried this technique?

Thanks for reading my posting,
Ricky

Bad when you can get sticker shock over a "toy"...

No problem.

I would think a kayak would end up being a cheaper and better investment, but it would be fun to drive the boat around

That one's called the Dinglehopper, http://www.aquacat.co.za/ it doesn't list the price on their site, probably pretty pricey. Here's another option Radio Ranger Rc Fishing Boat .http://www.RcFishingWorld.com For surf you would want to waterproof the boat better, but it has a line release and goes a few hundred feet. Its a basic rc boat and it might work..

I think a bait boat would be safer. They have a fishfinder and lights on them for night excursions lol! Plus you can do it all by yourself and not have to worry about having someone else come with you to watch your rod on shore. A lot of people say they get hook ups before they even kayak back to shore. Plus it's better than having to haul a kayak around. With the built in fishfinder you can drop it right where the fish are too. Plus it would be fun to just play with it lol!

Thanks for the links,

Ricky

Bait boats are very popular in Europe for carp fishing. You can buy them here from carp tackle suppliers

Careful with the carp bait boats that are meant for freshwater "calm" water. I did some more reading on a RC boat forum, the biggest issue that I see so far is the need for a self righting boat hull.

if the wind is right you can just blow up a few balloons and tie them on to your line and let it push your bait out. Kayak is the way to go tho.. they don't break or need recharging etc..

Thanks. The aqua cat dinglehopper is made for saltwater. It would be easier than having to lug a kayak back to VA when we go back next year. Taking in a kayak every night to the hotel room would kill me lol. I will try the balloon trick. We use it at home to float bait over schools of Bluefish.
