 Therostat location on 89 MercXR4

I have a friend that has an 89Merc XR4 that's getting hot. He has already put a water pump on it and its still getting hot. I't be thinkn maybe the theromstats might be causing that to happen.....where are they located and how many are ther?

Complete water pump kit or just impeller? Water pressure guage?
T-stats (2). One at tha top of each head, under tha housing tha hose's are attached to..............

I beleive the whole kit was installed...not sure if the water pressure gauge works on the boat....its been sitting up for a good while.Thanks on the location on the stats...I have a 96 150 mariner and ive never looked for them. I just went and looked a little bit ago to see if I could find them and now I feel like an idiot for asking bout the stats.....LOL!
