Just wondering....I know i have seen tournament boats with enclosed trailers...Wonder if will come to the point where they are standard issue just to keep the methheads from ripping you off everytime you stop at a redlight?

I want one......almost bought one. In fact another TFFer bought it. (out of Washington). Man that thing was sharp. Probably not the best on fuel economy and cleaning would be difficult.
Thieves will always find a way. We can only do our best to send them down the road for easier prey.

They look good to me and will keep a boat out of harms way I would think.

They were around years ago. Most felt the hassle out weighed the benefits.

People steal enclosed trailers too... it might help with equipment, but I could see just as much news of trailers getting stolen from garages and boat ramps! I would say spend your money on good insurance! It would be kinda cool to have one though! May even be a solution for those that don't have shops or big garages to park a boat at home...

It would help, but I think they cost too much, and they'd be a pain to tow, store, and park. You'd need a lot of space, and you'd probably need a diesel truck. It would be good though cause you could add a small sleeping space. If I was a traveling pro, I'd probably consider it.
There was a cool fiberglass boat cover posted on here a year or so ago (I think it may have been on a new Ranger.) that would basically enclose your boat and protect your rods and tackle. That would probably be a good compromise.

Those are neat. I ahven't seen one in years though. It was like a boat shaped fiberglass cap that lifted on hydraulics.

They were around years ago. Most felt the hassle out weighed the benefits. Yea back in the late 70's - early 80's there were several touring pros that had them. Back then it was pretty common for those guys to lay up in thier rigs at night as opposed to getting rooms at cheap motels. I remember seeing the fully enclosed rig that Jimmy Houston had made up for his in-board Ranger back then, That Idea didnt turn out very well either.

Seems to me to be a lot more work to get the boat in the water. Personally, I'd stretch a minnow seine type net from hull to hull and put about 3-4 live rattlers in the boat.

They stole one of the enclosed trailers for our Boy Scout troop and it had nothing on it showing it had scout equipment in it. There was nothing missing from it when the found it. They thought it had tools in it or something I guess. Jerks will steal anything and there is only one protection. I just take all my gear into the room every night and leave the boxes open so it's easy for them to see it's empty.

With the ramps around here you would never get a boat in the water.
 Boatless for minute
