I dont think they ever leave ..Any where you find some barnacle build up, you will find sheepshead.

I like sheepshead, and for the life of me can't figure them out, one day they are there, and the next they are gone for a while.
Don't know if they clean off the barnacles, or the water changes or what. I was catching them at the pier beginning of this year, and haven't hooked on to one again after that few week hiatus.

My best catches of sheephead come in late fall, winter and early spring. Mostly caught on small live shrimp.

I see schools of sheepshead swimming around Bob Hall Pier on a regular basis. They just dont seem to wanna hit anything. Although they are all over the barnacles on the pylons.
